First Step – Setting up the control panel
If you haven’t done so already, the first step after installation, is running the control panel.
To do this, point your browser to where you installed the control panel. It is usually:
http://your_web_site/cgi-bin/wonderdesk/secure/controlpanel.cgi
The following is just the critical items that need to be set in order to get your WonderDesk running. Click here for a more detailed explanation on the Control Panel.
The first thing that needs to be set is the:
URL of the directory where WonderDesk resides in.
Example:
http://your_web_site.com/cgi-bin/wonderdesk
Next is URL of the directory where your images reside in
Example:
http://www.your_web_site.com/images/wd
Next is the Email Method to use
Your choices are SMTP Sockets or Sendmail. This depends on your web server. Sendmail is used for Unix or Linux web servers. SMTP Sockets is used for NT/Windows2000 web servers.
You’ll need to find out which one is right by contacting your web server system administrator.
Sendmail
To find out the location of your Sendmail path, you can Telnet in to your server and type:
whereis sendmail
or type:
which sendmail
If you are still unsure, you can usually get it by trial and error since there are usually only 3 places it could be:
/usr/sbin/sendmail
/usr/bin/sendmail
/usr/lib/sendmail
SMTP Sockets
You’ll need to contact your web server system administrator to find out what the SMTP server name is. It’s usually something like:
laddergames.com
mail.laddergames.com
or even an IP address:
128.125.85.105
After these 3 critical items have been set, hit Save Changes.
If you get any errors, click here.
Next step is the Technician Setup.
The only critical thing that needs to be set here is the Administrator’s name and Email address.
Hit Save Changes
If you get any errors, click here.
Last Step is the Email Setup
